Welcome to Bronte House - Saint Felix Pre-Prep and Nursery Department.
This idyllic setting provides a safe, stable environment, where children between two and seven years old can take their first steps towards a happy, independent life.
Bright airy classrooms, exciting outdoor play areas and qualified, experienced staff, ensure that each and every child has the opportunity to develop to their full potential, at their own pace.
Both the EYFS and KS1 curriculums focus on child initiated, ‘hands on’ activities.
These provide the children with opportunities to learn by looking, listening, speaking and discovering things for themselves.
Indoor and outdoor experiences are incorporated into the children’s daily routine. A timetable of visitors and regular outings, enable children to gain a greater understanding of the local community and their own place in the wider world.
Children in the Nursery form close bonds with their ‘Key Worker’ who looks after their individual needs and communicates daily with parents via the online Learning Journey.
Upstairs, in the Reception class and KS1, fully qualified Teachers support the children as they begin to read, write and problem solve with numbers. We follow the National Curriculum guidelines but have the ability to develop the children further, with small class sizes and specially trained Teaching Assistants.
Swimming, Games, Music and French are offered to compliment the academic subjects and produce well rounded, confident individuals. We work in close partnership with families and offer a breakfast and after school club to provide, consistent, wrap around child care for busy parents.

Pre-Prep Daily Routine:
In the Pre-Prep, experienced Reception and Key Stage One staff, ensure the daily routine is structured around the core curriculum subjects of English, Maths and Science. ‘Topics’ encompass all cross curricular work and allow the children to receive a range of hands on practical lessons, alongside those designed to promote the ability to read, write and problem solve.
The tables below show the timings for the Pre-Prep Daily Routine.

Alongside the academic curriculum, the Department of Physical Education allows all pupils to enjoy and experience a wide range of activities, in the hope that they will see the benefit of a healthy, active lifestyle and continue with sport in their later years.
The Pre-Preparatory Department has the use of the excellent sports facilities and grounds at Saint Felix School. These include a superb modern sports hall with squash courts, a beautiful 25m indoor swimming pool and an equestrian course.
Sport is split into three complementary areas: PE, Games and Swimming.
PE lessons involve children exploring their creativity through gymnastics and dance with a focus on core skills. We also study outdoor and adventurous activities, athletics and team games. The children have structured swimming lessons all through the year.
The pupils will learn about the importance of warming up and down, stretching and how the body is affected by exercise.
Children in the Pre-Preparatory Department begin to take part in county competitions in football and cross-country running.
Our primary aim is to get the best from each child and to develop an enthusiasm for sport which will last a lifetime.
