Saint Felix School Sixth Form

Dear Parents and Guardians

In lieu of our usual October Open Morning and Sixth Form A Level Taster Days, we will be showcasing Saint Felix Sixth Form virtually, where you will get the opportunity to hear about life at Saint Felix Sixth Form from our staff and students.

Choosing where to study A Levels is one of the most important decisions students will make. I am confident that at Saint Felix we have the expertise, facilities and opportunities that support students to ensure they have a successful transition to A Level study. All our students will be supported and challenged to reach their full potential both within their studies and beyond the confines of their chosen subjects. This was highlighted by our 2019 examination results which placed Saint Felix in the top 5% for student A Level progress in the country, as well as being the top school in Suffolk.

As an independent school, we are able to offer students personalised learning packages. Our students benefit from being able to select from a range of twenty A Level subjects, including subjects such as Latin and Ancient History, that are not available in other local educational settings. We benefit from small class sizes which provides students with personalised academic support, supplemented by outstanding support offered by the Sixth Form team, including our personal Sixth Form tutors.

To complement our student’s AS and A Level studies, we have a robust pathway programme to support students with their post-18 choices. For instance, we have a successful Scholars Programme to guide our students in making competitive applications for the most prestige universities and courses both in the UK and abroad. We also offer the Extended Project Qualification to broaden student’s interests and skills beyond their chosen A Level specialisms.

Message from Heads of School, Henry and Georgia

"The focus at Sixth Form is very much on the individual. Class sizes are even smaller than they were at GCSE and the style of the teaching is very much student-led. It often feels like we are in a tutorial rather than a traditional lesson. It is not only about the education though; we are given many opportunities to grow as people during the Sixth Form and we are encouraged to play a part in the wider life of the school. Saint Felix Sixth Form feels like a halfway house between school and university; we are encouraged to be autonomous and independent but there is always help and support if things get tough."
