Saint Felix School Preparatory Department Newsletter – Friday 16th March 2018

Dear Parent/Guardian

Greetings from China.  Mr Harrison and I have had a very busy time; we have been promoting the school to potential parents and pupils and observing lessons in a variety of different schools to gain a better understanding of the educational culture in China.  We have taught lessons to classes of 50 pupils, met parents of current Chinese students for consultations and had meetings with the employees of our largest Chinese agent.  We are both looking forward to getting back to school next week.

I have been in close contact with school and understand that the Cancer Research UK Art Exhibition at the Peter Pears' Gallery was a great success; Mrs Nunn kindly sent me photographs of the artwork displayed in the exhibition.

On Monday seven Year 6 pupils, the two Heads of school from the Senior Department and Miss Wong were very lucky to attend the Commonwealth Service in the presence of The Royal Family and many other international dignitaries.  They spent the morning enjoying a walking tour of Central London and then attended the service at Westminster Abbey.  Miss Wong sent me many photographs and despite getting a little wet on their walk they looked as if they really enjoyed themselves; and even made an appearance in the BBC television coverage!

We hosted Moreton Hall for a double header of netball and football on Wednesday and I understand our netball A team won whilst the Bs lost.  The football A team also lost whilst our B and C football teams played a friendly game against each other.

The cross country competition due to be hosted by Langley Prep next Monday has been cancelled by the organisers as unfortunately they didn't have enough staff to run the event.

Tickets for the end of term production, ‘Olivia’ are going fast so just a little reminder to those who might still like to come (Mon 26th & Tues 27th March at 7pm in the Silcox Theatre).
