On Sunday 25 September, Saint Felix School hosted time trials for the British Modern Biathlon, with 45 competitors aged between 9 and 18 years from schools across the region, and results feeding into the rankings list for forthcoming national competitions.
Using the on-site swimming complex and athletics track, all competitors took part in a separate swim and run, with distances determined by age group. Swims range from 50m – 200m and runs from 800m – 1600m. Times for each discipline are then converted to points and the winner is the athlete with most points after both disciplines. The Saint Felix time trials are one of a series of preliminary competitions that determine rankings for the British Modern Biathlon Championships, to be held in Solihull in November, and the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon Championships next March at Crystal Palace.
A number of Saint Felix pupils did particularly well, including Ethan Rattenbury who took first place for Under 11 Boys, twins Joshua and Samuel Stephens who came 1st and 2nd respectively in the Under 14 boys, and Amelia Heard who was first in the Under 19 Girls.
Great results for all Saint Felix competitors who all placed in the top 4 for their respective age groups:
