We have had a very Christmassy week as the children were busy making presents and cards for their families.
They have played with the Nativity scene, learning about Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, gaining an understanding of their part in the Christmas play. The igloo, with the fairy lights has proven to be a popular place to read a story and the little penguins on the ice have been a good talking point.
We have collected the children’s reading books in this week. We will issue new books in January. In the meantime, you could encourage your child to write a letter to Father Christmas, read Christmas stories and sing songs to promote literacy development.
We have been practising the Saint Felix Nativity which is coming on well and I am sure you are all looking forward to it. If there are any worries about providing a costume, please come and speak to me. On Tuesday 12th December please bring your child, wearing their costume, to the Nursery door at 8.30am prompt. The Nursery staff will settle the children on the carpet, then walk them all over together to the theatre for a 9.30am start. Once you have dropped your child at Nursery you may take your seats in the theatre and wait for the show to start. Tea, coffee and mince pies will be served after the performance with juice and a biscuit for the children. Father Christmas will also visit the children whilst refreshments are being served. The theatre is situated in the Sports Hall building. There will be a collection following the performance if you would like to make a donation towards the Nursery.
