Welcome back to the New Year! The nursery staff would like to wish you all a happy and healthy 2018.
The children have been excited and eager to learn after their festive fun, having the opportunity to talk about their Christmas time, what they have been doing with their families and sharing stories of Santa.
Our main focus this week was to ensure that all the children are happy and settled, enjoying meeting up with their friends again, exploring their learning environment and slipping back into the routine. We have welcomed two more children into the setting too.
Our first topic is entitled Pattern, Colour and Shape, which will run up until half term. We began this week by adding lots of colours to the nursery as well as the outdoor area. Some of the children have been colour mixing with powder paints whilst some were looking at the coloured acetate sheets, holding them up to the light and watching as the colours change.
As well as naming colours and creating our own, we have looked at what happens if we add black or white, looking at different shades and talking about how colours can make us feel.
As the weather has turned so much colder, please ensure that your child has a warm coat, hat and gloves in school. Also please leave a pair of wellington boots for outside play.
