The whole-school 27km walk on March 9th from Aldeburgh to school has raised an amazing £1307 for The Loft Youth Centre. Combined with a generous £250 donation from the Sizewell B Community Fund, this brings the grand total to over £1500. Well done everyone!
Centre Manager Keith Meldrum was presented with a cheque during assembly on Monday 16th April and said: “We are really grateful for the school’s support. As a registered independent charity, the Loft is always in need of funding to ensure continued provision of services and this amount will support us for several months”.
The Loft Youth Centre, on Mights Road, Southwold, welcomes around 50 youngsters each week for a variety of social sessions and practical workshops on topics including mindfulness and babysitting training. Children come from Southwold, Reydon and surrounding villages and attend a range of local schools.
Headmaster Mr Harrison said: “A key aspect of our school’s mission is to foster a sense of social responsibility in our pupils. The Founder’s Walk was a great opportunity to support a relevant local cause, whilst also discovering more about the history of the school and enjoying our beautiful location on the Suffolk coast.”
Sixth Form student Nathan Wong has also made a brilliant film of the walk including drone footage that you can view on the school YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/z1Ii0utNrkk.
