Returning students in the Sixth Form have started to make themselves at home in our exciting new Sixth Form Study Centre.
Officially opened this week, coinciding with the start of term and in the same location as previous, the new Study Centre has a completely new look and feel. The project, which was completed over the summer break, takes inspiration from a typical university library and has been designed to give our older pupils the ideal environment to support and enrich their studies.
With ergonomic furniture and lighter, brighter decoration alongside plenty of power points and Wi-Fi throughout, our aim is to provide a setting that enables pupils to achieve the best that they can. Individual pods as well as open plan areas for collaborative study encourage students to take control of their day and prioritise their own time.
Where that time includes breaks from studying, we are also pleased to announce the opening of The Refectory, our new café. Located opposite the sports hall, with direct access from the school, the Refectory is exclusively available to Sixth Form students and staff.* Students can spend their daily allowance on healthy snacks and drinks, again within an environment more akin to that to be found at university or within larger businesses, helping them to prepare for the transition to the next stage in their lives.
*Parents and the wider community are welcome to enjoy the café’s facilities on Mondays – Fridays (8am – 10am and 3.30pm – 5pm); Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (8am – 10am and 3.30pm – 7pm) and Saturdays (8am – 12 noon)
