During the weekend of 19th January, 18 Saint Felix School pupils headed to the 50m swimming pool in Norwich for the first round of the Suffolk County Swimming Championships 2019.
The first two events were the daunting long-distance events, the 800m & 1500m Freestyle races, the two longest pool-based events.
Charlotte Walker won the overall title in the 800m freestyle, dominating the final heat of racing. Owen Webster won both the 16years 800m and 1500m freestyle, while Clara Watson-Flowers and Natalie Sanford also picked up gold medals in the 1500m freestyle (13years and 15years respectively). Clara also won silver in the 800m event. Sonia Tumiotto won two silver medals and Imogen Block won silver behind Natalie in the 15years 1500m which would be a St Felix School SC 1-2-3 finish.
Maia Tumiotto, Marin De Villard, Lazar Nemeth and Collins Saliboko all won bronze medals in their relative age-group 1500m event, while William Ellard and Joab Carr won bronze medals in the 800m freestyle.
St Felix School SC finished the weekend with 5 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze medals and 1 overall title. The next round of racing is the 2nd/3rd February in Ipswich. Good Luck to all pupils racing.
