On Sunday 10th March, a full Choral Evensong was sung in the Chapel by the recently formed Schola Cantorum, a small choir of Music Scholars and other competent singers from the school community.

The service was designed to commemorate St Felix and his work as missionary, teacher and first Bishop of East Anglia in the 7th century. The choir sang a varied music list, which included plainchant from the 9th to 10th centuries, a setting of the Canticles by Thomas Morley, a 16th century composer from Norwich, and a simple four-part anthem by the 20th-century English composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams. A member of the Sole Bay Ministry Team, the Revd Malcolm Doney, gave a short address on the theme of determination and a thirst for leaning and the service was led by the school’s Lay Chaplain, Mrs H Meldrum. The Schola Cantorum has plans to sing Evensong in local churches and further afield, as they gain experience and develop their skills in liturgical performance.
