Senior pupils Isabelle and Brooke achieved fantastic results after taking part in the UK Intercounties XC Championships Loughborough on Saturday
The UK Intercounties XC Championships are one of the hardest races in the cross country season. Open to participants from across the UK, the race includes the best athletes from 44 counties, including teams from Scotland and Wales.
Isabelle ran in the U15s with 297 girls on the start line and Brooke ran in the U20’s. Isabelle had to run 4000m and Brooke had to run 6000m.
The mud was really deep in places and the course was hilly, many girls lost shoes or fell. Both girls ran well as the youngest in their age groups, most of the runners in Brookes age group were at University. Both girls achieved fantastic results, Isabelle 179th in the UK and Brooke finished 126th in the UK. Isabelle was the 6th girl back for Norfolk and Brooke was the 2nd girl back for Suffolk in their age groups.
It was a great experience for both girls and they should both be very proud of their determination on a gruelling course.
