A whole day of activities and  events took place at Saint Felix today in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee.

The day began with special visitors in the shape of miniature donkeys from the wellbeing charity:Mini Donks. Donkeys, Millie and Jack, attended the school assembly.

The visit was paid for from some of the fundraising proceeds of a “Make £5 Grow” project by dedicated Prep pupils. Over £600 pounds was raised over the past two months by the children. Some of the proceeds went towards a fabulous fair on the Clough grounds complete with bouncy castle, inflatable run, inflatable penalty short out, candy floss company and a range of fun stalls! Parents were invited for a Jubilee cream tea on the Prep School Lawn. This was a really nice way to end the term with a momentous celebration and community gathering.

The fair was followed by a wonderful street-party themed all school lunch in the dining hall, with a rendition of the national anthem followed by a delicious selection of savoury and sweet treats.

In the classroom, Nursery and Pre-Prep pupils created crown coasters, decorated Jubilee suncatchers, painted with Jubilee stampers, printed the Queen’s silhouette and played with red, white and blue rice. Special thanks go to the Saint Felix PTA who funded the jubilee crafts. The children have asked lots of questions about the Queen and have celebrated our Queen’s historic milestone in an educational and fun way.

Saint Felix looks forward to a busy final half of the Summer term with a number of arts events taking place at the school and in local arts festivals.

But meanwhile:

Here’s to a restful and happy special Platinum Jubilee holiday to everyone!
