Nursery pupils had a wonderful final week of the half term celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Craft in the classroom included making crown coasters, decorating jubilee suncatchers, painting with jubilee stampers, printing the Queen’s silhouette and playing with red, white and blue rice.

Reading has included books about the Queen: ‘The Queen’s Hat’ and ‘The Queen’s Bag’ written by Steve Antony, ‘Coming to England’ written by Floella Benjamin and ‘There Once is a Queen’ written by Michael Morpurgo.

The books sparked discussion between with the children with questions about the Queen’s guard which led watching ‘The Changing of the Guard’ on the smartboard and learning the song: ‘They’re changing Guard at Buckingham Palace’.

Activities have enhanced the Nursery children’s learning and prompted curiosity to learn more about culture and tradition.
