Another memorable and fun House Shout event took place last Thursday at Saint Felix.
Previous House Shouts have always been hugely popular with pupils, staff and parents alike and this year’s show didn’t disappoint. Weeks of rehearsals paid off as pupils performed “Shouts” plus ensemble and solo pieces with a “Rock Anthem” theme within their House groups – giving an opportunity for all children – seasoned and less practiced combined – to give their all to gain points for their Houses in front of their peers, staff members and parents.
Winners: Rowell performed “Eye of the Tiger” (Survivor) as their Shout. Skye Staniforth sung the solo
“With or without you” (U2) and the ensemble was “You give love a bad name” (Bon Jovi). Alfie Bold accompanied the ensemble and the Shout. The ensemble was: Ben Every, Harry Tansley, Harry Hodgson, Letitzia Turrisi, Henry Foskett and Julian Lyttleton.
Judge: Tom Appleton – a conductor and arts consultant based in Bury St Edmunds. CEO and Artistic Director of Jubilee Opera, Director of Music at Aldeburgh Music Club and Guest Conductor of the Bury Bach Choir. Tom currently works as a consultant for the Britten Sinfonia’s Creative Learning Department.
Another sparkling evening of entertainment from the senior school students, embracing this year’s Rock Anthems theme. It was a tough job for the Judge, Tom Appleton, who had to make some difficult and sometimes controversial decisions. It was a very close call indeed but the students rocked it! All in all a great fun event, showcasing the many talents of our students! And a special mention goes out to Mr McLean who presided over the event as the host with his customary wit and charm!
