To the Saint Felix Community

It is with great sadness that I am announcing that Fran D’Alcorn, former Headmistress of Saint Felix, passed away after a period of illness.

Fran was a Felician to her core; as a member of staff from 1972-2013 and as Headmistress from 2013-16, she gave so much to so many students over her forty-four years at the school. Having run a very successful PE Department for two decades, Fran diversified into History teaching, running the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, leading on the careers provision, and heading up the Sixth Form; Fran gave her life and soul to the students throughout all of these areas before becoming the much-acclaimed 13th Head of Saint Felix School. Fran was much loved by her colleagues and continued her association with the school after retirement by chairing the Old Felicians’ Club and connecting with countless former students whilst also working relentlessly on keeping the archives in an excellent state. Fran had an enjoyable retirement in Southwold volunteering at the local museum and travelling when the opportunity arose.

Whilst I didn’t have the opportunity to meet Fran personally due to her illness, we communicated regularly and her knowledge of the school was second-to-none, as was her passion for the continued success of Saint Felix. She will be sorely missed by so many within our extended community. Our thoughts and condolences go to all who knew her.
