Our Medical Centre is attached to the Bursary and School Shop and is at the heart of the School.
The Medical Centre has two registered nurses - Sister Paula Canham, RGN, and Sister Nicole Linkin, RGN/ SCPHN-RHV - who take care of all the children from breakfast until supper and are always on call during term time. The medical centre has 5 beds for use during the day or night if pupils are unwell and a “sitting” room for use in the day if a bed is not required. We believe in treating the whole child, so apart from general health and first aid we are also involved in the pastoral care of the pupils, we offer a quiet place and a listening ear. We keep the waiting room up to date with health and welfare information and we are always happy to discuss healthy living with pupils. We work closely with the local doctor's surgery, Solebay Health Centre, and recommend that all boarders are registered with the surgery.
Boarders who are unwell are treated in the Medical Centre and may remain there for a portion of the school day.
If your child is asthmatic it is advisable to keep a spare named inhaler in the Medical Centre. If your child requires an adrenaline pen for a severe allergy, they should also keep a spare one in the Medical Centre. This must be in addition to the one they carry and for use in an emergency.
