The Preparatory Department is based in Clough House, an old boarding house at the heart of the school campus for children between the ages of 7 and 11 (Year 3-6).
The building is well equipped for modern day education; each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and we have our own designated art, music, ICT and cookery rooms, as well as grass and hard-standing playground areas and play equipment.
We receive pupils from the Pre-Preparatory Department, allow them to develop over four years and then we pass them on to the Senior Department ready to prepare for the rigours of GCSE and A Level.
Our aim is to develop the range and breadth of every child. We provide a broad syllabus and ensure that all children achieve a high standard of work across the curriculum. Children at Saint Felix develop self-confidence and self-esteem in a caring and happy environment. All of our pupils represent the school at sport, they all sing in the Choir, they all perform in concerts and all pupils have a role in the annual Preparatory Department productions. We try to instil a sense of individual pride in all school and personal activities.
We offer each child the opportunity to learn an instrument, take singing lessons, make friends across year groups, take Speech and Drama lessons and play conkers in the playground.
We expect every child to demonstrate good manners throughout the school day and encourage an ability to form easy relationships with both peers and adults. Every child knows adults are there to help; every child understands that academic work is the norm.
Saint Felix aims to provide an excellent education in a family atmosphere. We offer a unique environment in which children can flourish and are given the opportunity and confidence to excel. I hope the children will go home at the end of each day with the same smile with which they arrive; I want children to enjoy their education, experience as much as possible and want to tell parents about their activities from that day. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and would happily show you around the Preparatory Department. Parents new and old are always welcome.

PASTORAL CARE
-
The monitoring of pupils and reporting of specific pupil concerns with regards to pastoral issues are facilitated through Tutor meetings and full pastoral meetings.
Case conferences are also called where appropriate when relevant staff and other professionals are gathered together to discuss and set up action plans. Parents are involved as appropriate but minor problems may be resolved informally.
Much informal exchange of information is carried out on a daily basis for less serious concerns through the Form Tutor or House Parent and is generally very effective in a small school with such a close community.
