North Suffolk Games U11 Tag Rugby tournament - 4.10.18

On Wednesday 3rd October Saint Felix attended the North Suffolk Games U11 Tag Rugby tournament at Lowestoft and Yarmouth RFC.

The festival’s scoring system was in 4 different categories-  teamwork, sportsmanship, respect for referees and teachers and coaches respect for players and referees. Rory Hunt, Year 6, has written a match report from the afternoon.

Miss Wong took us to Lowestoft and Yarmouth Rugby Club.  Some of us had played there before but this time it was dry. Usually it is very wet and muddy.  There were 20 teams and we were split into groups of five.  Our first match was against our rivals, Old School Henstead, and we knew many of their players.  It was a good match and we defended very well and scored some good tries.  We won 3-2 although we had two tries disallowed for diving.

Our second match was against Red Oak. They had some very fast players and we did not defend so well.  Fortunately we scored some tries as well and I think that it was a draw.  Next we played Carlton Colville Primary School and I don’t think that they had many experienced players.  We won the game and the other team said some very nice things about how we had played.  For the last game which was against Gunton we borrowed two of the girls that had played for Carlton Colville for our team and they played well. One of the girls scored a try and she was very happy.  We won this match 6-1 and all of our team got to play in this game.

At the end of the games there was a presentation and we came third overall.  The competition was based on how we had played as well as the results.  We were happy to have come third out of so many teams.  Well done to the team.

We would like to thank Miss Wong for taking us and we hope we can do some more tournaments this year, especially if they are contact not tag.
