June 27, 2018

On Wednesday 20th June, Year 9 visited the Imperial War Museum in London in a trip designed to support the study of conflict poetry.

All students were moved by the Holocaust exhibition and, in discussion afterwards, several pointed to parallels with events in recent history. Students were also impressed by exhibits relating to The First World War and experiences of life in the trenches and on the home front. As a follow-up all of Year 9 will complete a series of tasks relating art, poetry, philosophy and history to conflict. This will improve their understanding of the poem they will study. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout what was a long and gruelling day.
