The East Regions Surf Lifesaving Competition took place on Saturday 8 September at Sea Palling in Norfolk.
For all the students involved it was their first taste of competition at this level, and involved competitors travelling from as far away as Broadstairs in Kent.
There were just two age-groups for Juniors; Nippers (7-12 year olds) and Youth (12-16 years old). There were a number of different disciplines to complete, designed to test the various attributes required for Surf Lifesaving. Some of the events were completed as an individual, as a pair, and others as a team with other members of Waveney Surf Lifesaving Club. The students achieved the following results:
Ben Every (Nippers)
1st Run-Swim-Run
2nd Sprint Relay
Joshua Stephens (Youth)
1st Tube Rescue
2nd Flags
2nd Board Rescue
3rd Beach Sprint
Samuel Stephens (Youth)
1st Tube Rescue
2nd Beach Sprint
3rd Board Race
3rd Run-Swim-Run
Owen Webster (Youth)
1st Beach Relay
2nd Run-Swim-Run
Joab Carr (Youth)
1st Board Rescue
These are very commendable results with all the students involved having at least another year in their respective age-groups. Their thoughts now turn to completing winter training and looking forward to Nationals next summer in Poole.
