Head Swimming coach

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring, committed and well qualified Head Swimming coach to lead the swimming team at Saint Felix School.
We are looking for a swimming coach who can join our team and work under the direction of the director of swimming. Experience in swimming is essential as you will play a key role in the Saint Felix swimming programme.
Sport and Physical Education play a central role to life at Saint Felix. Whether in Pre Prep, Prep or Senior School all pupils are encouraged to become actively involved in physical activity either through the curriculum or the extensive extra curriculum programme on offer. Facilities are excellent and students participate in a wide range of sports throughout the year.
Saint Felix School is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged from 2 – 19, located close to the glorious seaside town of Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Our aim is to develop well-rounded students with the skills and the personality to make a success of their lives during and after their school years.

We are looking for a Swimming teacher who will be able to;
- Lead the programming and coaching of the Age Group Squad in collaboration with the coaching team
- When required, coach sessions with our Development & Transition Squads
- Write and implement annual and daily session plans for our Age Group swimmers, typically aged 9 – 14 years old
- Attend Age Group competitions as well as County, Regional and National competitions as required. These are generally throughout weekends, but some meets potentially run through weekdays and evenings
- Attend school swimming events, for example World School Games, ESSA and IAPS as required. These are generally held on weekends, but qualification rounds may take place during weekdays and evenings.
- Monitor and evaluate students’ progress and achievements against defined targets through observation and gathering relevant data. To amend the defined targets as appropriate to take into account on-going assessment of student’s progress and individual needs and circumstances
- Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports, written and verbal, appropriate to the intended audience regarding pupil progress and achievements, ensuring the availability of suitable evidence.
- Use school systems and procedures to positively reinforce good behaviour, anticipate and manage challenging behaviour and conflict
- The role may include supporting and implementing pupil’s personal programmes, relating to social, health, physical, hygiene and welfare matters, and appropriate communication methods
- Establish and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with students that engages, motivates and removes barriers to achieving their defined goals
- Support the role of parents in pupil learning and contribute to /lead meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress, achievement, problems etc.
- Abide by the School’s Code of Conduct and carry out duties in accordance with School and Swim England Policies
As the Lead swimming coach you will be joining a strong department where results are excellent. This position would suit an experienced swimming professional or someone looking for their first role.
