One of Ed Sheeran’s favourite charities, Street Child, will benefit from an exclusive fashion show to be held at Saint Felix School on Friday 6th October.
With a first look at a variety of designer fashion from Southwold-based boutique Collen & Clare, as well as handmade jewellery by Ed’s mother, Imogen Sheeran, on sale and live music from Bury-based duo True Fable, the evening promises to be a stylish affair raising money for a very good cause. The ‘Winter is Coming’ themed catwalk will see a number of local models wearing the new season’s womens- and menswear from leading designers including MaxMara, Joseph and Mulberry. All proceeds from ticket sales, an auction and raffle on the night will be donated to the cause, along with 50% of jewellery sales.
One of Suffolk’s most famous sons, Ed experienced Street Child’s work in Liberia at first hand on a trip filmed for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day earlier this year. Street Child started in Sierra Leone in 2008 working with a small number of street children, and has since gone on to help over 60,000 children go to school and enabled thousands of families to generate sustainable incomes so that their children can stay in education. Today, Street Child works in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nepal and Nigeria with a current emphasis on education in emergencies and girls’ education.
With the charity’s focus on education, local independent school Saint Felix is providing the perfect venue for the fashion show. Pupils at the school regularly fundraise in support of a large number of charitable causes including the Access Community Trust, Lowestoft and St Elizabeth’s Hospice as well as further afield in South Africa.
Lisa Laughland, Head of Early Years Foundation Stage, who is helping to organise the fashion show said: “The children that come to school at Saint Felix Southwold, are so fortunate compared to so many other children around the world. Hosting an event like this in aid of Street Child gives us all an opportunity to highlight the really important work that they do and opens everyone’s eyes to ways that we can help those in most need”.
