Swim England East Region Winter Championships 5th-7th November 2021

Over the weekend of 5th – 7th November a team of 10 school squad members headed to Luton for the East Region Winter Championships. This was the first time in two years the Championships have been held and saw the best swimmers across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex come together to compete for Senior Titles. 

Natalie Sanford, year 13, won the 200m Individual Medley (IM) Title alongside Silver medals in the 100m & 400m IM.

Marin De Villard, year 12, won his first senior medals finishing 3rd in both the 100m & 200m Backstroke events.

William Ellard, year 11, broke the Swim England East Region Junior Record & Suffolk Junior Record 50m Freestyle finishing 4th in his first senior final. He was the youngest by two years to qualify in this final.

Charlotte Sanford, Freya Harwood, Rosie Brooks, Holly Driver, Noni Thole, Lorne Balfour, Marcus Moscuzza all swam multiple best times and season best times over the weekend.

Natalie, Marin and William all gained Winter National Qualifying Times with Marcus, Charlotte, Rosie and Freya narrowly missing qualiying times by under 1sec. 

The swimming club has a pathway from Learn-to-swim, through Development Squads, to the high-level performance squads who compete at county, regional, national and international level.
